Gods and Fighting Men was described by the poet W. B Yeats as “the best book that has come out of Ireland in my time”. It contains translations by Lady Gregory from medieval manuscript versions of myths and legends drawn from a prehistoric oral tradition which still survives today. This adaptation for audio CD allows the listener to experience some of these stories through the spoken voice, as when they were first told by country people and in the courts of kings.

Felicity Hayes-McCoy is an Irish writer and actress whose knowledge and love of these stories goes back to her childhood when she first heard them told in the Irish language.
